I have been helping a local caterer for the last few months. Before working in her kitchen, I did not realize there were so many gaps in my kitchen tool collection. Now that I have used them, there is no going back. My collection will feel incomplete until these items are purchased:
- A bench scraper
- What a handy tool! Rather than moving small pieces from the cutting board, just use the bench scraper. It also cuts dough.
- A scoop colander
- Affectionately referred to as "that shovel/strainer thingy." I think you are supposed to strain pasta with it, but you will find a plethora of occasions to pull it out. I use it like a small shovel to scoop things out of a pan and into a smaller container.
- A silicone-coated whisk
- Quiet and smooth. The silicone coating helps you scrape the edges of a bowl as you stir. I am a fan.

- A knife like this
- You can chop and slice away without your knuckles hitting the cutting board. Amazing!

Do you already own any of these items? I don't, but they will be on my Christmas list next year.
