Organization: The Task Bin

Wouldn't it be nice to have everything you need in one place? You have a task to complete. Just pull out a bin, complete the task, and put the bin away. So simple!

My repetitive task and the source of a large mess: getting ready every day. Check out the number of items required for my task:

I use the same items every day for the same task. Rather than dig under the sink for the various items, I decided to place them in an easily-accessible bin.

When it's time to get ready, I pull out the bin and make a mess. Then, I throw all the items back in the bin and put it back under the sink. No more digging around for the hair dryer or searching for the makeup bag. Everything is in one place.

A few tips:

  • Choose a bin or basket that is small enough to lift easily.
  • Limit items to the ones you actually use. If you only use a curling iron on special occasions, no need to lift it every day.
  • Keep small things in containers. I have found that a baby food jar works great for bobby pins.
