3 Down, 17 To Go

Reading used to be a huge part of my life, but I have been slacking in recent years. For some reason, picking up a book makes me feel lazy, like there is something else I should be doing. Funny how I can waste time on the internet without feeling so guilty. It's time to change that.

Last year, I only read eight books. My goal is to read twenty books in 2014. By filling downtime with reading, I should easily be able to meet the goal.

My new blog has distracted me lately, but I managed to read three books in January:
  1. Resurrection Year- This book by Sheridan Voysey is the story of one couple's journey through infertility. My mother-in-law gave the book to me as a birthday gift, and I couldn't put it down. The story was fascinating, but also reminded me that we don't want to stretch infertility tests and treatments over ten years like the author did. If you are interested in a husband's perspective on infertility, I would recommend reading the book.
  2. Death by Living- In his unique way, N.D. Wilson encourages readers to live intentionally. Although I would enjoy reading the full stories he briefly mentions, I like the way he weaves snippets of life as a narrative throughout the book.
  3. Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert- Seriously, everyone should read this book. I disagree with where she lands on a few theological issues, but Christians can learn a lot from Rosaria Champagne Butterfield's story. I did.
What books have you enjoyed so far this year?

I read Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert in January and agree that is a thought provoking read. In fact, Greg and I will be re-reading the book with a group of friends this coming month.
